What is ISEET ?

ISEET stands for Indian Science –Engineering Eligibility Test (ISEET)

ISEET has been conceived & will be implemented by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India.

ISEET will be the common admission/entrance test for India’s most of the Engineering /Science Institutions/Colleges/Universities.

ISEET will be going to replace ?

IIT- JEE for admissions into 15 IITs and IT –BHU, Varanasi & ISMU, Dhanbad (all through main merit list) & IIT – JEE extended merit list used by many institutes like 6 IISERs, Institutes of Maritime studies, IISc etc.)

AIEEE for admissions into 30 NITs, 5IIITs & several pvt/.deemed universities.

ISAT for admissions into IIST.

Admission Test for 3 Indian Statistical Institutes.

State PETs for admissions into GOVT./PVT. Colleges of various states.

Benefits of ISEET ?

A common examination for admission into most of the Engineering/Science institutions.

No need to apply for several entrance examinations.

As student will be free and relaxed after appearing in only exam.

Stress-level will be considerably reduced which otherwise used to be there due to various entrance examinations spread over a period of three months (April-May-June).

Substantial financial savings for parents.

ISEET along with Board Exams

The ‘New Admission Policy’ for admission will have two main components:

Class –XII: Board %

ISEET % score

A student’s performance in the class 12 Board exam will be considered, with a weight not be less than 40 per cent of the total score.

The combined weightage for ISEET main and advance will not be more than 60 per cent; however, the weightage given to Board scores can go up to 100 per cent.

Each state government or institute will be able to decide the specific weight it gives to Board, Main and Advance exam scores.

Pattern of ISEET ?

ISEET will have two parts.

The first part will be called ‘ISEET – Main’.

The second part will be ‘ISEET- Advance’.

The ISEET – Main will have Aptitude Testing

The ISEET –Advance will have advance domain/subject testing

The ISEET-Main will have Aptitude testing questions based on comprehension, critical reading & reasoning.

The ISEET-Advance will have questions of Science subjects like Physics, Chemistry & Maths.

The question papers will have objective pattern.

ISEET main will be an objective type exam, and will test comprehension, critical thinking and logical reasoning.

ISEET Advance will test problem-solving ability in basic science subjects.

The two tests together will indicate candidate’s scholastic level and aptitude for science and engineering.

First ISEET will be conducted ?

The first ISEET will be conducted in April/May 2013

ISEET will be conducted by CBSE.

The ISEET test papers will be prepared by IITs.

Eligibility criteria to appear in ISEET ?

The qualifying examination will be Class-XII from any National/State or approved International Board.

40% marks in Class-XII

The student must have studied subjects like Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in Class-XII.ISEET score will be valid for two years.

Language of test papers in ISEET ?

The ISEET for National Level Institutions shall be conducted in English & Hindi languages.

Where States intend to use the same examination for admission to State engineering institutions, the examination could be conducted in the regional language of the state too.

How & When start preparing for ISEET ?

“Early Start…Ensure Success.

It is advisable to start the preparation in the beginning of Class-XI and continue till Class-XII (for two years)

Since, there will be stiff competition for admission in good institutions like IITs (to secure top ranks in ISEET); many students may even start preparing right from Class-IX and X to Class-XII (for three-four years).

Since the admission criteria in good institutes will be based on two parameters (Board%-normalized & ISEET & Score); the students are advised to maintain an equilibrium in board studies as well as ISEET preparation.

A simultaneous preparation of School/Board examinations and ISEET will yield better results.

Since the admission criteria in good institutes will be based on two parameters (Board%-normalized & ISEET % Score); the students are advised to perform well not only in board examination (min. 40% weightage) but also in ISEET (max. 60% weightage).

The board examination shall have only Class-XII syllabus while ISEET-Advance will have both Class-XI & XII syllabus; hence, a student need to study the complete Class-XI & XII syllabus thoroughly to score better in Board examination as well as ISEET-Advance.

Further, since the aptitude part of ISEET-Main shall not be ‘normally’ & ‘formally’ taught in school curriculum, a student need to regularly prepare & practice it as well to enhance his/her overall performance in ISEET.
